Meet Emily

Choosing a doula is a very personal decision. It is important to find someone who you can connect with, someone who is a good fit for you. So let me tell you a bit about myself.

I am a wife, a mother of three, a Biola alumna and a graduate of Childbirth International. I am educated in Bradley childbirth and am a certified hypno-doula with Hypnobabies. My first birth was an induction which became a cesarean. The second was an attempted home birth with a transfer to the hospital for exhaustion. The third was a straightforward and beautiful home birth.

I think that I have a somewhat unique approach to birth, because I've experienced such a wide variety in my own! I believe that a natural, unmedicated birth is the best case scenario for mother and baby, and I can help you and advocate for you towards that end. But I also know that birth is unpredictable, and plans need to be held gently. Two out of three of my births didn't go quite the way I'd planned!

I am passionate about making sure that you have accurate information about birth in general and about your specific circumstances. "Informed consent" often isn't truly informed, and one of my goals is to help you ask questions so that you can make the very best decisions for yourself. I do not make decisions for you, because my job is to empower you. I will help you think through your options and I will support you as you make those wishes known.

I can be as "hands on" or "hands off" as you desire. Some women like lots of physical touch during labor. Some just want a quiet presence sitting in the corner. My job is to be whatever you need.

I look forward to meeting you!
